George Foulgham is an acclaimed sound re-recording mixer with a career spanning more than forty years. He began as a trainee projectionist and steadily rose through the ranks, eventually leading the factual sound department at a major post-production facility.
In 2021, George and his wife Caitlin launched George Foulgham Soundscapes, a boutique sound company dedicated to high-quality audio post for documentary and factual storytelling. Their work was recognised with the Hollywood Professional Association’s Excellence in Sound Award in 2023.
Over the course of his career, George has collaborated with many of the world’s leading documentarians, mixing two Academy Award-winning and three Academy-nominated feature documentaries. He has received multiple honours and nominations from BAFTA, AMPS, RTS, and HPA, and is a proud member of BAFTA and CAS. He recently took over as Chair of AMPS.
Alongside his professional work, George is committed to supporting the next generation of talent.
He regularly mentors emerging sound mixers and tracklayers, and guest lectures at the National Film and Television School.
On Sunday 13 April, members of the sound community gathered at Greenwich University for a special daytime event celebrating the winners of the 2025 AMPS Awards for Television Drama, Factual Film & Product Innovation. The occasion brought together nominees, AMPS members, and invited guests to honour outstanding achievements in screen sound and audio technology — a moment to pause, connect, and recognise excellence across the craft.
